Matt Adams: News

July 30, 2010

Oliver has arrived! - February 12, 2010

Hello all. Just wanted to pass on the news that Oliver Charles Adams was born yesterday - 2/11/10. He's a beautiful baby, in fact, the nurse who gave him to mommy for the first time said "Here she is" and, realizing her mistake said "He's just too beatiful to be a boy". Momma and baby are doing just great. I couldn't be happier or prouder!!
On the musical front, I'm keeping busy playing with my quartet, the New Basics Brass Band, and recently have been playing with Roger Hines' and Stan Smith's group, Nova Madrugada, with drummer Danny Aguiar. This quartet plays primarily original instrumental music (the majority of which is written by Stan) and we pride ourselves on never playing the same tune the same way - ever. Its an intense group - come see us when you get the chance. (Check the calendar page).
The MAQ has been working dilligently on a new batch of tunes and we're getting pretty close to ready for the studio. Olliver's arrival has put that goal on the back burner for a moment, but only to let the juices mix and simmer together. Look for a new Matt Adams Quartet CD sometime in the near future.
I sincerely hope that life is as good to you as it has been for me.
Peace and Love
Matt

7/2/09 - July 2, 2009

Time once again for my semi-annual update:

As of this past spring the new working band is Tony Bonardi on piano, Matt Paetsch on bass (as always) and the formidable Chief Keith Maxwell Button on drums. We're keeping somewhat busy (as busy as can be expected for a jazz quartet in Columbus, OH.) Tony has contributed quite a few of his original tunes to our book. The band sounds as good as ever and there's a certain extra something with this group that wasn't there before. Come out and hear for yourself. We still do our "old" stuff, but with new flair, and the new music keeps it fresh all the time.

On the home front: Benjamin is getting bigger, smarter and ornerier. He's learned how to push mom and dad's "buttons" and how to TRY to manipulate us into always giving him what he wants. (He's successful more often than he probably should be.) Natalie's still at Cardinal, working her tail off so I can keep pursuing the tantalizing muse of music.

Check the calendar page to see when the band is playing next. I'll try to keep it more current than I've been lately.

Thanks for visiting my site, and I hope TRUTH, in some way makes itself a little more known to you today and every day.

Peace,
Matt
